The Circle was founded by Annie Lennox in 2008, bringing women together across the globe to act on issues, share ideas, generate transformative change and inspire. This network of women takes action and leverages and brokers access to people who can make a difference, with the knowledge that we still do not live in a world where women and girls have equal rights and opportunities.


Fighting for gender equality, often with grassroots and local organisations, The Circle works to play its part in the Sustainable Development Global Goal 5 – Gender Equality -  by working on a range of issues and prioritising two particular areas: a living wage in the garment industry and ending violence against women. As part of their Living Wage campaign in the fast fashion industry and taking into account that in some countries women make up 80% of garment workers, The Circle, in partnership with TrustLaw and the Clean Clothes Campaign, launched a report at the Copenhagen Fashion Summit in 2017. The report set out the legal argument that a living wage is a fundamental human right and that companies and governments have a responsibility to uphold this right, with the assistance of lawyers based in fourteen countries where large-scale retailers source garment production, including India, Bangladesh, Turkey and Mexico. Other projects include political representation, economic empowerment and education, supporting women and girls all over the world from farmers to journalists.



Through donating all of the profits from our new t-shirt, we hope to support some of the incredible Circle initiatives around the world to empower and support women and girls. The mantra created by Roland, ‘Your Lies Are Not My Dreams’, aligns with a vision for positive change and transforming lives through truth and empowerment. The t-shirt is made in the UK from 100% organic cotton, featuring bold graphics and empowering slogans designed by female artist Mehrnoosh Khadivi of Craftwork Studio who was inspired by Yonic and female symbolism. A series of videos made with Roland Mouret employees compliments the project with each staff member wearing the t-shirt or slogan badges.



The synergy created through The Circle’s inspiring work and Roland’s passion for empowering women is captured through this campaign. Roland says, “It’s such an honour to work with an organisation such as The Circle…an NGO founded by a woman, driven by women to support other women and girls globally. It’s incredible. Women have always been the focus throughout my career in fashion, and my designs are about empowering and supporting. If women do not have a voice, none of us do, which is why The Circle’s initiatives are so valuable. Through buying this t-shirt you are making a difference. There is a lot of work to do, but I hope I’ll be able to make a difference.”

  • Since 2008, the women of The Circle have raised over £2.5m.
  • This has supported over 160,000 women and girls in more than 16 countries. 
  • The Circle have produced reports that have set out the legal argument for the rights of women in regards to both the Maputo Protocol in Africa and a Living Wage in the garment industry. These reports have then been used to advocate for change.
  • The Circle support a range of projects, organisations and campaigns each year that work on issues from violence against women and political representation to economic empowerment and education.
  • The Circle support women and girls all over the world from farmers to journalists.



  • A living wage is a fundamental human right. Yet, in Cambodia, the National minimum wage for garment workers is just 6% of a living wage. 
  • Women have the right to live in freedom from fear, however 1 in 3 women are impacted by sexual or physical violence worldwide.
  • It is a fundamental human right to be free from cruel or inhumane treatment. Yet, 28.2 million women and girls are still trapped in modern day slavery.
  • To live in safety and to be free from harm is a fundamental human right and still, across the globe, between 1.5 and 3 million women and girls die each year as a result of gender-based violence.
