Spring Summer 2022
In celebration of the Spring Summer 2022 collection, Roland Mouret collaborates with Magaajyia Silberfeld on the short film, Terma.
Continuing his ongoing commitment to championing female voices, Roland Mouret entrusted Magaajyia Silberfeld with creative control to translate his brand ethos to her project on the big screen. In lieu of a fashion film, Magaajyia was tasked solely with creating an empowering film celebrating women and the female identity. She produced, co-directed and starred in Terma, in partnership with writer and director Elias Borst.
Set against the background of a Grecian island, Terma is a modern reinterpretation of the ancient myth of Ulysses told from the perspective of the female protagonist, Hera. Inverting the trope of independent and sexual women portrayed as a danger to men in the original myth, the heroines in Terma save Ulysses and put him back on course to continue his journey.
Over the course of the several days the story unfolds, Hera too is at the precipice of self-discovery. On arrival, she appears lost yet her introduction to Aglaope and Pisinoe, leaves Hera with a new acceptance in her own identity.

Intended as a response to the shift in outlook of the post-lockdown cultural landscape, the SS22 collection celebrates an optimism and vitality revealed through the season’s silhouettes, prints and colour palette. The collection is an evolution to a looser fit, with timelessly carefree pieces which can be easily pivoted for a multitude of occasions.
“In designing this collection, I asked myself what has changed for the Roland Mouret woman? The collection is rooted in an understanding of the new ways they live their lives and how they dress, as the world is re-emerging. There is a new daywear attitude, with relaxed silhouettes and transitional separates. The collection meshes with every moment of a woman’s day, to uplift any instant as an opportunity to feel good in yourself.” - Roland Mouret.
The collection expresses a nonchalance, comprising of easy-to-wear dresses, elasticated-waist trousers and effortless tops. Each piece is elevated with cleverly constructed folds, ruffled necklines and ribbon belts, bringing signature Mouret design DNA to understated staples.
An evening capsule of geo-sequin, taffeta and pleated silk lurex gowns brings this newfound ease to occasion-wear. Caped taffeta bodices and voluminous sleeves are balanced in perfect symmetry with slim fit tailored trousers and sleek gowns to accentuate the female form. Geo-sequins embolden sharply tailored dresses, jumpsuits and gowns.
The colour palette takes inspiration from the seasonality of Southern France and Greece, drawing on Mouret’s memories of long Mediterranean summers. From early-summer tones of pale mint, mauve, and pearl to high-summer with bright pops of crystal blue and yellow.
The look book epitomises the optimistic feeling of the collection, styled with hand-made earrings in an homage to Carolee Prince.
